Former NANS Leader Hails FG’s COVID-19 Efforts calls for deliberate efforts to tackle hunger

A former Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone A, Comrade Umar Farouk Lawal (Fakki) has hailed the effort of the Federal Government in the fight against COVID-19. Comrade Fakki made this known in a statement he personally signed and sent to our correspondent on Friday April 10th, 2020.

In the statement he appreciated the government on what he described as a “swift response in the Fight against Corona virus in Nigeria using some preventive measures which have indeed assist in the Fight and also low number of cases of the virus among citizens”.

He called on President Muhammad Buhari to “…also consider the ordinary Nigerian on the street who does not survive by monthly salaries from the government or other forms of remunerations but survives on daily menial jobs gotten around the city”.

He urged that the government should pay attention to these sets of people who are not captured by the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer by either placing them on a periodic allowances or provide plans to reduce the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown, if Government is will not will to see her people die of hunger”.

He stressed that hunger might end up killing more Nigerians that Corona Virus if something is not done urgently. urgently
