COVID-19 Lockdown: Plateau goes Digital, introduces CCTV surveillance at Major Borders

The Plateau State Government have fulfilled their promise of mounting CCTV Surveillance at major borders entry and exit points to monitor compliance to the restriction of entry and exit from the state.

The Director General of Plateau Information Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA) Mr David Daser, made the disclosure on his social media page on the use of CCTV Surveillance stating that

“We now have CCTV cameras displaying major borders in Plateau state. Next phase is building a robust process with the security handlers. What we have learnt from the video feed in the past couple of days is that lockdown is the best and surest way to enforce border closure”.

You will recall that during the state wide broadcast to citizen, Governor Simon Lalong announced that CCTV Surveillance will be introduced to check sharp practices along State borders.

Some citizens had taken to social media to call the attention of government over what they described as alleged violation of the border closure policy to prevent the importation of the deadly Corona Virus into the state.

While stressing that government was ready for monitoring of state borders, Mr Daser stressed that “In the coming days we would conclude on a proper security process while looking at the borders from the situation room”.
