Plateau COVID-19 Lockdown: Relative compliance across Jos

As the third phase of the lockdown in Plateau State enters its second day, compliance across selected communities in Jos the Plateau State capital was captured by our reporters who went round to monitor compliance.

The Journey started from Tina Junction Via Angwan Rukuba where members of the Neighbourhood Watch were visible every 400 meters of the road. They were accompanied by Officers of the Nigerian Police Force as well as the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). There was high level of compliance within that axis as vehicles were being checked, with only those those captured under essential services were allowed through.

A visit to Angwan Rogo – Angwan Rimi however saw a number of people going about their normal activities with shops remaining in locked. Members of the Neighborhood Watch/Vigilante Group we visibly seen seated in their numbers at every junction. Movement of human persons were however free, with a few check point stopping vehicles to check.

The story of compliance along Farin Gada Tomatoes Market was well observed with members of the Neighborhood Watch and Security Operatives manning check points. The ever busy road was deserted in compliance.

The usually busy Zaria Road-Gada Biyu express was equally empty and deserted, members of the Neighborhood Watch and security operatives were seen carry out their responsibilities diligently.

Hill Station Junction to Old Airport Junction also witness heavy presence of Security Operatives as well as the men of the Neighborhood Watch ensuring that only those on essential services were allowed through.

At old Airport junction two unidentified men were spotted and apprehended with the effort of journalists and security operatives. When questioned, they claims they were on their way to Bauchi from Port Harcourt. They claimed they left Port Harcourt two days ago on their way to Bauchi before they were apprehended by security operatives.
