Rinji Killing: Rt Hon George Edward Daika tasks Government to ensure Justice Prevails

RINJI KILLING: Rt Hon George Daika tasks government to ensure justice prevails.

The former speaker PLSHA and a one time member of the house of reps, representing, Mikang, Quan-Pan and Shendam federal constituency, Rt Hon George Edward Daika had decried the continued killings of citizens on the Plateau as if they are endangered species.

He said, “I am disturbed and saddened by the news of the gruesome extra judicial killing of Mr Rinji Peter Bala by operatives of the Operation Safe Haven in Jos”

As one of those who participated and joined hands with other democrats to usher in the return to democratic rule in 1999, I am worried that 21 years after, innocent citizens are been killed by those paid by tax payers to protect their lives and properties.
He said, time has come for these acts to stop forthwith.

My family and I share in the grief of the family of Nde Peter Bala at this difficult moment. It is painful to lose a child so young, energetic, and resourceful he said.

He was just 20 years old and a leader in the making yet taken away from us in such a barbaric and callous manner he queried.

Rt Hon George Daika commended the show of love and solidarity across Plateau and beyond our fault lines.

This according to him, is a reflection that the ideals, spirit, resilience, and bond we share as a people is still very much alive.

The explanations given by Operation Safe Haven is not tenable. Though, we cannot bring back our beloved brother, son back to life, we owe him justice by ensuring the culprit is prosecuted and held accountable.

It is tragic that you always hear such bad news from Bassa, Bokkos and Barkin Ladi to Riyom Jos, as if our people have been subjected to a calculated and targeted ethnic cleansing while the assailants continue to be called ‘unknown gunmen’ while security operatives transfer their ineptitude and misplace aggression on innocent citizens as exemplified in the case of Rinji Peter Bala.

He said, While he appreciate and commend the Plateau State government decision to set up a panel to investigate this incident, I urge that necessary political will should be mustered to ensure that this matter is not swept under the carpet once again he maintained.

According to the former law maker,
He also concur and lend his support to the clarion call to seek legal redress and secure justice for the deceased.

He prayed for the soul of Rinji Peter Bala, rest in peace at the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ. His heartfelt condolences also goes to his family, friends, the Ngas nation and the good people of Plateau state.
May this sad misfortune never befall us again.

Signed
Rt Hon George Edward Daika.
Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and Former Member Representing Quanpan/Shendam/Mikang Federal Constituency.
