The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the attack on the convoy of the Executive Governor of Borno State, Gov Babagana Umara Zulum. This position was expressed by the Coordinator, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone C, Comrade Suleiman Sarki during a press conference with Journalists in Abuja on Saturday 8th August, 2020.
Sarki reminded Nigerians that NANS endorsed only Gov Babagana Umara Zulum in the entire Northeast as the sole candidate in the 2019 Borno State Guber race, and according to him, Gov Zulum had performed beyond expectations. Therefore “an attack on Gov Zulum, is an attack on Nigerian Students”.

You will all agree with us that, the ultimate purpose of any government is to protect the life and property of its citizens.
It is upon this ultimate purpose that, democracy was built and assumed to be the best form of government.
To exercise one of the civic duty beckon on them by this form of government, on 9th March 2019, the good people of Borno state came out in mass to elect a Governor who shall paddle the affairs of the state for the next four years.
Fortunately for the state, a Professor of water and soil Engineering was declared winner of the election in a landslide victory. prior to the election, because of the believed we have on him as an academician par excellent, NANS Zone C endorsed only him in the entire Northeastern States as our sole candidate and urge Nigerian students to galvanize support for him.
Immediately after he was sworn in as the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara-Zulum hit the ground running, he initiated and completed building of ultramodern Primary/Secondary school, Internally Displaced Persons are giving adequate and regular care, reconstruction of communities ravaged by Boko Haram insurgency among other giant strides of his Excellency.
In area of security, his Excellency is giving the maximum support that is expected from any chief security officer of a state.
Gentlemen of the press, today Governor Zulum is doing extremely fantastic beyond our anticipations in which even his enemies and the enemies of progress can testify to. For these, Nigerian students are ready to take the bullets for Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum.
On 29 July 2020, in his regular routine visit to areas ravaged by Boko Haram, Governor Zulum convoy was attacked in mile 4 along Baga road, this is not only devastating but ridiculous and calls for urgent investigation by security agencies.
We totally condemn the attack on his Excellency’s convoy, we further call for security rejigging in Borno state as this is sending a great signal that all is not well in the area of security.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are hereby state unequivocally that, any further attack on Governor Zulum shall leave NANS Zone C with no option than to organize a rigorous protest across the ten (10) states of our leadership territory.
Lastly, once again NANS zone C has no regret for endorsing Governor Zulum as its sole 2019 gubernatorial candidate in the entire North East because of his academic prowess and intellectual vibrancy, and since he assumed office as Governor, he has proven to be a leader worthy of emulation. Therefore, “an attack on governor Zulum, is an attack to all Nigerian students “
We implore men of goodwill to continue praying for Governor Zulum and other good leaders.
