Operation Safe Haven Partners Bloggers to help deliver on Mandate

The Commander, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) Major General CC Okonkwo today received the leadership of the Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association (PLABOMA)  who were on a Courtesy visit at the Headquarters OPSH in Jos.

The Association led by her Chairman, Comrade Friday Bako briefed the Commander that the association which comprises of bloggers who have established themselves with integrity and professionalism over the years have resolved to pursue contents that will promote peace and development rather than incite and cause fear. Comrade Friday Bako called for synergy between Operation Safe Haven and the Association in order to ensure that useful information about the activities of Operation Safe Haven is properly disseminated to the public.

Comrade Bako thanked men of the Operation Safe Haven for their efforts so far which has yielded result leading to gradual return of peace in rural communities. He also expressed satisfaction over the reduction of criminality within Jos Metropolis, while also encouraging increased discipline of officers who occasionally cause scenes while interacting with civilians.

Responding to the Association, the Commander, Operation Safe Haven, Major General CC Okonkwo thanked the Association for the visit, while assuring them of his readiness to partner with them to ensure that fake news and misinformation is brought to a halt especially security related information, which if not handled with care could lead to break down of law and order.

General Okonkwo stressed the need for Peace which according to him is pivotal to the development of every society. He maintained that without peace, there won’t be any meaningful development.

He insisted that himself and the men of the Operation Safe Haven are committed to the protection of lives and property, beyond the call of duty.

While commenting on the conduct of some personnel of the Operation Safe Haven, the Commander stressed that discipline is the core of every military operation, hence the Operation Safe Haven is a discipline formation, stressing that while every organization has bad eggs, all forms of malfeasance among men of the Operation are being handled.

On the recent killings of some traditional rulers in the state, the Commander sympathized with the people of Jos South and Riyom. He called on the general public to exercise patience as proper investigation takes time. He confirmed that though some arrests have been made, time and patience is required in order to uncover the culprits connected to the unfortunate incident.

He promised to sustain engagements with the association for better productivity.
