A Kanam Youth, MD Shehu Kanam has eulogized the Deputy Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Saleh Shehu Yipmong, affirming confidence in his capacity to represent Plateau Central Senatorial District. AN AFFIRMATION OF CONFIDENCE ON THE DEPUTY SPEAKER, RT HON SALEH SHEHU YIPMONG TO REPRESENT THE GOOD PEOPLE OF CENTRAL ZONE IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY COME 2023.
As a child growing up, I come to admire the boldness and doggedness of Rt Hon Saleh shehu Yipmong to contest for an election in 2014 under the banner of APC. The Deputy speaker coming from a poor and humble background was determined to represent the good people of Dengi state constituency. The APC being a new party have the challenges of setting structures while suffering rejections from the people, but the Honourable member alongside the leader of the party, Prof Saleh Kanam stood firm to ensure APC won with a wider margin. To the glory of God, the Honourable member won his election to represent the good people of dengi constituency, the only APC elected leader from Kanam who subsequently became the Deputy speaker and political icon of the local government.
The Deputy speaker among many challenges in the first tenure defiled all odds to transform Dengi constituency into what it is today. He engaged himself in littering physical projects of different nature across the length and breath of the constituency. Virtually every village have one or two project to show courtesy the Honourable member.
The Kanam political head drilled many borehole for the people so as to give them access to portable water, purchased transformers to expand electricity in Dengi to kunkyam ward, built market stalls, built town hall, graded many rural roads which were not accessible by the people, he carried out medical outreach where thousands of people got free drugs and surgeries of various degrees, he empowered youths and women with equipments of various trades and conditional cash transfers, he built hospitals and equipt some. He further sponsored bills which were passed into law and moved many motions which have direct impact on the life of the people.
This among many others are things done by the Honourable member and if representation is all about the people, I feel the Deputy speaker is someone to stand for, someone to align with for the betterment of the people. His philosophy when it comes to leadership is centered on the people and so, the humongous call for him to contest for the office of central zone senate is timely which by God grace, it will see the light of the day.
