National EXCO NMA Visit Vice Chancellor University of Jos

National Leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof Sebastian Seddi Maimako. The Vice Chancellor received the delegation led by the National President of NMA, Prof Innocent Ujah in his conference hall at the Administrative building at the Naraguta Campus of the University.

The NMA National President was flanked by members of his National EXCO, as well as members of the Plateau State Chapter of NMA. The National PRO of NMA took time to introduce all Members of the National EXCO on the entourage National President, while the State Secretary of NMA, Dr William Bapigaan Audu introduced the members of the State EXCO.

The National President of NMA, Prof Innocent Ujah wasted no time in intimating the Vice Chancellor, Prof Sabbastine Seddi Maimako of the purpose of their visit. According Prof Ujah, he considered it ethically incorrect to be in Jos for a week-long event and not visit the Vice Chancellor of the University he him is an employee.  In his remark, he pointed out that the NMA is holding her Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the first time in Plateau State.

He stressed that Conference is anchored on the Universal Health Coverage (Agenda 2023), which is premised on the following Pilars;

Every Nigerian should have access to Healthcare, Poverty should not be a barrier and the local production of vaccines.

The Vice Chancellor, University of Jos, Prof Sebastine Seddi Maimako, while responding to the President of NMA, first congratulated him on his emergence as the Pioneer VC of FUHS Otukpo and also on his emergence as the National President of NMA. Prof Maimako stated that he believed in his capacity to handle both responsibilities. He noted specially the contribution of Prof Innocent Ujah to human capital development, especially those he had trained in the medical field, stressing the need for mentorship in the academia.

Prof Maimako pledged his desire to support the College of Medical Sciences to achieve greater goals, pointing at the efforts made by his administration in the construction of more facilities at the permanent site.
He thanked the entourage for coming, considering it an honour to receive them.

Prof Maimako rayed that the outcome of the conference will be accepted by Government and implemented for the good of all Nigerians. There was thereafter the presentation of a gift bag to the Vice Chancellor by the National President of NMA, supported by the State Chairman of NMA, Dr Innocent Emmanuel. There was also the signing of the visitor’s book of the university and a group photograph.
