Ganan Wash-Pam Emerges New Chairman Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria Jos & District Society

The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Jos and District Society today held her 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Conference Hall of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, Revenue House in Jos. The AGM began with a review of the stewardship of the immediate past Isaac Wadak Led EXCO. At the end of the AGM, elections were held to replace the outgone EXCO. Mr. Ganan Wash-Pam emerged as the Chairman of the Professional Body.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ganan expressed appreciation to his professional colleagues for believing in the capacity of the the newly elected Executives, entrusted to pilot the affairs of CITN Jos and District for the next twelve months.
He galvanized the support and guidance of members on behalf of the newly elected Executives to succeed.

According to him the presence of members the all activities of the District is the needed motivation the new EXCO need to succeed.

He commended the outgone Executives led by Nde Isaac Wadak for their outstanding achievements, stressing that they laid a solid foundation that will continue to resonate in the task of the newly elected Executives. He assured members that the EXCO under his able leadership will consolidate on the successes and milestone of the outgone EXCO.

In his own words “For this reason, our job will just be that of mere consolidation”.

He recognized the unmatched job of the Electoral Committee, describing their delivery of the elections as an excellent job.

Other Members of the Executives elected include;

i. Yakubu Mama Dauda Vice Chairman, ii. Mr. Reuben Dadar Deputy Vice Chairman, iii. Mr. Kevin Hassan Auta General Secretary, iv. Mr. Dariem Dawamma Anlat Legal and v. Florence Damen Mwansat Assistant Secretary. Offices uncontested in the election are the offices of the Financial Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Treasurer and Social & Welfare Secretary.

All offices on the ballot were returned unopposed except for the Deputy Vice Chairman which was contested by Dr. Friday Akpan and Mr. Reuben Dadar, in which Mr Reuben Dadar got 12 of the 13 accredited votes while Dr. Friday Akpan secured zero (0) votes, with one (1) invalid vote recorded.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Alh. Ibrahim Alhassan declared the winners having met the necessary requirements as stipulated by the guidelines backed up by the constitution of CITN.

Outgone Chairman of CITN Jos & Society Nde Isaac Wadak FCNA, while giving account of his stewardship shortly before the dissolution of his EXCO of stewardship, itemized some of the challenges his EXCO encountered since assumption of office on 20th May, 2019. These include but no limited to membership mobilization, office accommodation and attendance of meeting as well as prompt payment of dues by Members.

According to Nde Wadak, his EXCO Toured relevant tax authorities, Tertiary Institutions, Tax Appeal Tribunal (North Central), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) on advocacy visits to mobilize membership which he stressed had yielded positive results.
While listing the achievements of his administration, Nde Wadak enumerated the successful hosting of 2019 & 2020 MPTP, increased the number of License Chartered Tax Practitioners, increased the numbers of fellows by five, secured approval for Jos as an examination centre, Initiation & successful inauguration and investiture of the Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT) Jos and District Society 2021, successful organized the maiden edition of the Annual Jos Tax Week in April 2021, inauguration of three committees (Finance & General Purpose Committee, Welfare and Education Committees) etc as high points.

Nde Isaac Wadak expressed to all who contributed to the success of his administration of the period under review.
