Plateau State Government rolls out new strategies to tackle isolated attacks in rural communities

The Plateau State Government has disclosed immediate moves to tackle the rising cases of insecurity, especially the resurgence of isolated attacks in rural communities in the state. This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Prof Danladi Atu when he met with bloggers and media influencers at the Old Government House, Rayfibeld.

The meeting which also had in attendance the Director General, Plateau State Peace Building Agency, Mr Joseph Lengman was convened in other to strengthen partnership efforts with Bloggers and Media influencers in order to strengthen the Peace Building Process on the Plateau.

According to the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Prof Danladi Atu, government had concluded arrangements to train and equip three thousand (3,000) vigilante across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

This was in an attempt to strengthen security intelligence gathering, response to attacks/violence and to curtail acts of criminality at the grassroot. According to him, this arrangement was necessary to in order to complement the efforts of the conventional security architecture are and strengthened peace.

In addition to that, Prof Danladi Atu also informed the gathering of plans to set up security bases in specific communities to be manned by both conventional and local security set ups to ensure that unknown persons are not allowed into rural communities unnoticed.
