Plateau State Government set to enforce Ban on Motorcycles in Jos North & Jos South LGAs

As part of efforts to curb influx of unknown individuals into the state through bushes on motorcycles, and also to reduce acts of criminality reported to have been perpetrated by armed men on motorcycles. This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Prof Danladi Atu while addressing journalists at the Old Government House, Rayfield.

According to Prof Danladi Atu, there is already an existing law banning the use of motorcycles in Jos North and Jos South LGAs, stressing that there is need for strict enforcement of that law. In addition, movement of motorcycles will also be restricted after 8pm in the other fifteen LGA. This was also informed by reports forwarded by Local Government Chairmen of Jos North, Jos South, Jos East and Riyom Local Government Areas.

According to their reports, masked men were sighted ridding into their Local Governments through remote routes. These people are reported to be responsible for the reign of terror in rural communities and isolated attacks which claim lives.

According the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, this was part of the plethora of security arrangements introduced by the Government to tackle insecurity in rural communities in the State.
