DG PLASCHEMA Dr Jemchang Fabong Flags Off Distribution of Health Cards, Disburses 1356 Cards to Civil Servants

The Plateau State Contributory Health Maintenance Agency (PLASCHEMA) has flagged-off the distribution of Health Cards to State Civil Servants who have enrolled in the scheme and have also chosen their health service provider. According to the agency, the distribution covered all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state. The event which was billed to hold at the Conference Hall of the Cabinet Office at the Joseph Gomwalk Secretarait saw in attendance representatives of all MDAs who were there to receive the health cards on behalf of their staff for onward delivery.

Speaking to Journalists at the event, The Director General PLASCHEMA, Dr Jemchang Fabong said the essence of the event was to officially flag off the distribution of Health Cards to those in the formal sector who enrolled in the scheme and have selected health service providers. He said that prior to the distribution, those who had enrolled did not select the health facility which will service as their health service provider they intended to use to access the State Health Social Insurance Service from. This led to the creation of a portal online for all who applied to login using the unique number they were issued at the point of registration in order to select the health service faculty they wanted as their health service provider.

Haven done so, the first badge of one thousand, three hundred and fifty-six (1356) health cards were disbursed during the flagged-off ceremony. Dr Jemchang went further to state that about three thousand (3000) cards were also ready for distribution.

According to him, about thirty-two thousand five hundred (32,500) persons have been enrolled to benefit from the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund of the scheme. In the Informal Sector about one hundred and eighty thousand (180,000) persons have also been enroll, while in the formal Sector (State Civil Service) fifteen thousand, eight hundred and three (15,803) persons have been enrolled. In the private sector, about one thousand (1000) persons have been enrolled to benefit from the scheme.

Dr Jemchang Fabong stressed that the 15, 803 State Civil Servants who have enrolled will start accessing health services haven received their health cards from tomorrow Friday, 11th June 2021. According to the DG, the Plateau State Government had already paid their own portion of the counterpart contribution to ensure the smooth take off of the scheme. Adding that the scheme is for all Plateau Citizens.
