The newly appointed Ag. Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Gray Goziem Ejikeme on Wednesday 23rd June 2021 assumed duty at the institution’s Naraguta Campus in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
Prof Ejikeme was led to his office by the outgone Vice-Chancellor if the University, Prof. Sebastian Seddi Maimako following a brief handover ceremony, which took place at the University Senate Chamber.
At the ceremony, Prof Maimako told the gathering that as Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Ejikeme would function, while also retaining his former position as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University pending the appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor for the University.
Prof Maimako went further to disclosed that he was leaving behind a catalogue of resources for the Ag. Vice-Chancellor to work with, these according to him included files, office equipment, well established structure and records of additional personnel brought into the system in the past five years, as well as records of completed and ongoing physical infrastructure in the University, among others.
Prof Maimako used the opportunity to plead with the members of staff and students of the University to give the Prof Ejikeme the needed support to enable him to succeed in his new assignment pending the appointment of a substantive V-C for the University.
While responding, the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Ejikeme promised to carry everybody along in the discharge of his duties and also do his best to take the University to greater heights, saying “with God, all things are possible to them that believe.”
