The Leadership of a group known as ‘Plateau Central Youths Advocacy for Democracy and Good Governance (PLACEYADAGG)’ has announced their plan to commenced a free medical outreach across the five (5) LGAs that make up the Plateau Central Senatorial District. This was contained in a statement issued by the group’s Chairman Kwarsen Andokplang Gideon.
According to the statement about 10,000 people are expected to benefit from the free medical outreach. The said event is scheduled to hold between 31st july, to 29th August, 2021. According to its timetable, the group will be in Bokkos from 31st to 1st August, 2021; Kanam, 7th – 8th August; Mangu, 14th – 15th August, Pankshin, 21st – 22nd August, and Kanke 28th – 29th August respectively.
According to the group, the initiative is borne out of the absolute commitment to its corporate social responsibility of giving back to the society, honed by its passion to ameliorate the plight of the masses who are financially unable to access good medical services. According to them, Statistics has shown that the target population in the Senatorial district is quite large and in dire need of such aid.
The group called on a interested patients to avail themselves for the free treatment, the group also enjoins traditional and religious rulers, youth and women groups, as well as other patriotic individuals within the five districts to partner with it through publicity, mobilization and security to ensure that the outreach is a success.
The group came to prominence and criticism when they called for the recall of the Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Hezekiah Dimka over alleged underrepresentation. This medic outreach sets the group apart as a group that knows and understands the rudiments of democracy. This is arguably the first time in history that a pressure group is organizing an event of this magnitude in Plateau State

As part of its vision, the youth advocacy group has continued to identify with effective and efficient representation while holding public service holders accountable for their actions and inactions in meeting up with the demands and expectations of the people.
