The Plateau Elders Forum has expressed sadness over recent rise in violent attacks in some communities in Plateau State, especially Bassa and Riyom LGAs that have claimed lives and displaced hundreds.
In a Statement issued on Thursday evening by the group’s publicity secretary Mr Gideon S. Mitu, the group further condemned the unrest and destruction of property which took place around Gada Biyu in Jos.
The group condoled with the families of those who lost their lives during the period of the unfortunate incident. The group commended the Plateau State Government for taking decisive security measures to calm frayed nerves and prevent further breakdown of law and order. The group urged the Plateau State Government and Security agencies get to the root cause of the continuous outbreak of violence and ensure that perpetrators are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
Stressing that only drastic and holistic wholistic measures can stem the rising cases of violent attacks in Plateau State which has been enjoying relative peace.
