The women of Azuzuama community is Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State have called on the Bayelsa State Governor Sen. Duoye Diri not to take sides in the current Chieftaincy Tussle in the community.
They made this know when they came out in their numbers to protest the arrest and detention of High Chief (Dr)Selky Kile Torughedi whom according to them was selected as the Traditional Ruler of the community.
Speaking during the women’s protest today, Mother Patience Gbei Tonprebofa called on Gov Duoye Diri not listen to those spreading lies and instigating trouble. Stressing that the Governor, being a man of the people should listen to the voices of the azuzuama community by acknowledging High Chief (Dr) Selky Kile Torughedi as their king.
The women described High Chief (Dr) Selky Kile Torughedi as a non partisan philanthropist who has the support of his people.
The women in azuzuama are fingering the Honorable Commissioner of Energy and others in the recent arrest of High Chief (Dr) Selky Kile Torughedi and fomenting trouble in azuzuama community.
It will be recalled that few days ago the azuzuama community had reportedly selected High Chief (Dr) Selky Mile Torughedi as their new king. News filtered in on Sunday 22nd of August 2021 that High Chief (Dr)Selky Kile Torughedi had gone missing, he was however reported to have been arrested by the Bayelsa State Police Command.
Sources close to HRH High Chief Selky Kile Torughedi have disclosed that the the Bayelsa State Police Commissioner had invited him to Yenagoa, only for the There are unconfirmed reports that HRH High Chief (Dr) Selky Kile Torughedi was hurriedly tried and remanded for the next 30 days.
As at the time of filing this report, the Bayelsa State Police command were still unreachable for comments.
