Chief of Defence Staff Gen Lucky Irabo tasks Journalists on reports that foster Peace

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabo has charged media practitioners on factual and responsible news reportage that will foster peaceful coexistence especially in Plateau State. General Irabo made this charge while responding to questions during an interaction with journalists on Wednesday (night) at the Headquarters of the Special Task Force codenamed Operation Safe Haven in Jos.

While responding to questions from Journalists regarding his visit to Jos, General Irabo informed them that following his visit to the Governor of Plateau State, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong, he proceeded to Miango in Bassa and other areas of Jos North which were recently affected by unfortunate attacks leading to loss of lives and property, for an assessment of the areas. General Irabo stressed that his visit to Jos was to escalate current military efforts to ensure incremental peace in Plateau, urging citizens and stakeholders to give useful information to security agencies which will lead to the arrest perpetrators of acts of criminality in the state.

General Irabo pointed out that it was his wish that soldiers returned to their barracks and for life to return to how peaceful and serene Plateau State was known to be in the 80s and 90s which attracted tourists from far and near, but for the current peace efforts which required military presence. Stressing that without peace no business or endeavor can prosper or succeed, calling on all to give a chance.
