Riyom APC LG Congress Peaceful, Product of Consensus ~ Hon Mafeng

The Management Committee Chairman of Riyom LGA Hon Mafeng Gwollson has commended the peaceful conduct of the LGA Congress which held on Saturday 4th September 2021 in Riyom. He made this known on Sunday 5th September 2021, while addressing journalists, shortly after the inauguration of the newly elected Local Government Exco of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Local Government multipurpose hall in Riyom. According to him over ten (10) persons had shown interest to run for the office of the Chairman of the APC in the Local Government.

However, following the constitution of the committee saddled with the responsibility of sharing positions scientifically across the wards of the LGA, Hon Ntoy Ngyang Gwong emerged as APC Chairman, Riyom LGA, as a product of consensus. He added that all other offices were also unopposed as the words were asked to g and discuss and provide a Candidate each who will represent their wards in the Local Government Exco. He stressed that that was the same process that was adopted which produced the Excos of all the Wards of the party in Riyom LGA.

Hon Mafeng noted that during a stakeholders meeting few days before the local government congress, all those who had shown interest for the office of the party chairmanship unanimously agreed to support Hon Ntoy Ngyang Gwong in a consensus. He stressed that all stakeholders agreed to support him for the success of the party in subsequent elections.

Hon Mafeng pointed that the APC in Riyom has performed well from 2015 to 2019, stressing that the margin between the APC and other parties had closed up from around 38, 000 in 2015 to about 8,000 in 2019, sighting an increase in the political presence and performance of the party in the local government, adding that going forward the party is in pole position to capture the local government.

On his part, the newly inaugurated APC Chairman of Riyom LGA Hon Ntoy Ngyang Gwong expressed satisfaction with the process that produced him as chairman, noting that he will operate an open door policy in receiving suggestions and advice in running the affairs of the party.
