Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya visits Gbong Gwom Jos, stresses importance of the traditional institution in Military efforts against Criminality

The Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Farouk Yahaya has stressed the importance of the traditional institution in the current military offensive against criminality in the country. He made this position known when he paid home to the Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Gyang Buba at his palace in Jishe, Jos on Wednesday 29th September 2021.

Lt. Gen Farouk Yahaya who was on a working and operational visit was at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru where he gave a lecture to participants currently on course. Following his visit to Governor Simon Bako Lalong, the Chief of Army Staff proceeded to pay homage to the Plateau State Traditional Council led by the Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Gyang Buba.

At the Palace of the Gbong Gwom Jos, Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Farouk Yahaya stressed the importance of the role of the traditional council in the Non-kinetic efforts of the military in achieving peace. He noted the Influence and powers of the Traditional Rulers across the country. He stressed that the traditional institution is still held in high esteem hence the need to leverage on that capacity to prevail on their subject to support military efforts in achieving lasting peace.

Lt. Gen Farouk Yahaya appreciated the support of the traditional institution in Plateau State in fostering the activities of the Special Task Force code named ‘Operation Safe Haven’. He called on the Gbongwom and his council of Chiefs to continue to support the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major General S.I Ali.

Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya used the opportunity to condoled with the Gbong Gwom Jos and the people of Plateau State over the demised of Brig. Gen Abraham Luka Dusu Commander, Nigeria Army School of Artillery.

While responding on behalf of the Plateau State Traditional Council, the Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Gyang Buba welcomed and appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya for coming. The Royal Father recognized the daily sacrifices of men and officers of the Nigerian Military all over the country. He encouraged the military to continue to be professional in discharging their duties, especially those deployed in Plateau State.

The Royal Father also appreciated the General Officer Commanding 3 Division/Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major General S.I Ali for his continuous efforts in restoring peace in Plateau State. The Royal Father encouraged him not to be deterred, while noting that bad eggs among youths are in every tribe and community urging him to remain resolute in his drive to bring an end to criminality.

In his closing remarks, the Royal Father assured the the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Farouk Yahaya of the continuous cooperation of the Traditional Council in Plateau State in supporting security agencies to ensure that law and order, and lasting peace is achieved. The Royal Father prayed to God to continue to protect security agents as they continue to ensure the security of law and order across the country.
