The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong has granted absolute pardon to four (4) prisoners serving jail terms having been convicted for various offences.
The Governor disclosed this during his Independence day address, at the Jos Township Stadium, venue of the celebration of Nigeria’s 61st independence.
The Governor noted that this action was in exercise of the powers conferred on him as Governor in section 212 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As amended), after due consultation with the Stage Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.
The Governor stressed that the pardons were granted for reasons of good conduct, with effect from the different dates of sentences.
Those concerned include; 1. Obinna John, 2. Sagir Mukaila, 3. Teryile Ishi and 4. Daniel Honok.
The Governor had inspected a Parade by the Nigerian Police Force, other Paramilitary agencies, voluntary groups, secondary schools as well as primary schools.
