Former Attorney General Plateau State urges Gov Lalong to call for Political Dialogue, review exclusion of parties, suspend LG Polls in Jos North

A former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Plateau State (between 2002-2004) Barrister Jonathan Yusuf Pam has called on the Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt. Hon Simon Bako Lalong to urgently convene a forum for political dialogue to foster unity and cohesion especially in Jos North LGA.

Barrister Pam made this known while reacting to a recent Press Conference by Afizere, Anaguta and Berom Youths under the platform of ‘AFINANABER’ who had called on Governor Simon Bako Lalong to urgently intervene in the political situation within Jos North LGA where some of their members in the APC were denied the opportunity to participate in the APC LGA Primaries, instead names of persons were announced as winners through a process they claimed was not in consultation with their members who had purchased forms.

Barrister Yusuf Pam Pam who is considered a renowned peace builder, human rights activist and a leading civil society advocate also advised the Governor to review the decision by PLASIEC to exclude others parties from participating in the forthcoming Local Government Elections. He stressed that there was need to reenforce the security architecture of the State and implement strategies for permanent and effective solutions to the perennial sociopolitical turbulence on the Plateau.

The former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, who was part of the internationally recognized 2004 Plateau Peace Conference advised that to avert what he described as a looming risk state-wide, government should as a matter of urgency suspend Local Government Elections, especially in Jos North, in order for the above mentioned suggestions to be implemented.
