Ahead of the Local Government Elections slated for Saturday 9th October 2021, the Plateau State Government has declared Friday 8th October 2021 as work-free day while also restricting vehicular movements on Saturday 9th October 2021 from 7am to 4pm throughout the 17 LGAs of the State. This was made known in a statewide broadcast by the Governor of the State, HE Rt Hon Barrister Simon Bako Lalong on Thursday evening.
Governor Lalong stated that the measure was to allow citizens, particularly Civil Servants to prepare ahead of the polls. The Governor assured citizens of government’s readiness and efforts towards the polls through security agencies to ensure that they are able to go and cast their votes for the candidates of their choice in the Local Government Elections slated for Saturday October 9th 2021.
Governor Lalong warned against attempts to disrupt the polls on Saturday 9th October 2021 while directing security agencies to deal decisively with any person or group of persons who try disrupt the process.
