The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the just concluded Local Government Elections conducted by the Plateau State Independent Elect.oral Commission and the subsequent announcement of winners as an act of “…executive rascality…”. This position was made known during a Press Conference organized by the PDP on Monday 11th October 2021, held at the State Party Secretariat in Jos.
According to the PDP, they had a desire to see that the Local Government Election was conducted fairly in the interest of the people who deserve a voice in governance without exclusion, stressing that “It was on the basis of this that the party went to court to seek justice when the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission unlawfully excluded the party from participating in the election”.
The party noted that despite the fact that hearing of their Appeal Case was fixed for November the 22nd 2021, it was surprising that PLASIEC did not wait for the decision of the Court of Appeal, despite being a party to the suit, but went ahead to announce winners, which the PDP described as “… appointees…”.
The party advice those declared winners by PLASIEC not to celebrate, adding that “… they were not elected by the people but rather appointed by despotic leadership…” and as such, it will lead no where. The party added that “The purported swearing in ceremony is temporal and will be short lived, this is laughable and only a child’s play”.
Earlier today, Governor Simon Bako Lalong swore-in the candidates of the APC in the 17 LGAs who were declared winners of the Saturday October 9th polls by PLASIEC.
