Newly Sworn-in Chairman Kanke LGA, Hon Henry Gotip Jan assumes Office, promises better attention to critical sectors

The Newly Sworn-in Chairman of Kanke LGA, Hon Henry Gotip Jan has formally assumed office. During a brief ceremony, the DPM of the Kanke LGA handed over to Hon Henry Gotip Jan at the Headquarters of the the Kanke Local Government at Kwal. Shortly after, Deputy Chairperson of Kanke LGA, Hon Lucy Gompil was sworn-in.


A goodwill message was taken from former SSG, Nde John Gobak on behalf of stakeholders and elders who were present but for the want of time.
The Executive Chairman, Kanke LGA Hon Henry Gotip Jan who was elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) thanked his predecessor Hon Emmanuel Lar, elders and stakeholders of the LGA for their support. He noted that Kanke LGA is blessed with youths who are full of energy. He reiterated that critical sectors of the LGA such as Health, Education and Agriculture among others will be looked into.

Executive Chairman Kanke LGA, Hon Henry Gotip Jan expressed concern over healthcare situation in the LGA, while making a commitment to build structures to ensure that the people of Kanke LGA don’t have to travel long distances to access medical services. On Education Hon Henry Gotip Jan noted that hence forth he will personally monitor and supervise schools to ensure that the best is given to pupils of Kanke LGA, while also promising improved welfare for teachers.

On Agriculture, Hon Henry Gotip Jan pointed out that given the Agricultural potentials of Kanke LGA, Hon Henry Gotip promised that new farming techniques will be exploited to improve food production for food sufficiency in the LGA.

In closing, the Executive Chairman Kanke LGA, Hon Henry Gotip Jan promised an all inclusive administration where women and youths, as well as elders while be given opportunity to contribute in the governance process, stressing that the Unity of Kanke LGA is non negotiable. He urged all indigenes of Kanke LGA to embrace and love themselves.

Vote of thanks was recieved from by Prof David Rinji, shortly after which the inauguration of the Kanke Legislative Council took place shortly after at the Kanke Legislative Chambers, under the supervision of the Clerk of Legislature, Mannaseh Iliya Gonya, where a total of eighteen (18) Councilors representing the 18 State Wards of Kanke LGA were inaugurated.
