The Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency Plateau State, Hon. Simon Mwadkwon Ph.D on Thursday 14th October 2021 attended the House of Representatives Plenary for the first time since his involvement in a ghastly auto crash on Friday 7th May, 2021 following his presentation of his Bill (HB. 23) for an Act to establish the North Central Development Commission for second reading.

In a statement issued by the Director Media and Publicity to the Honorable Member, Comrade Friday Bako, Dr Mwadkwon successfully presented the Bill on the floor of the House during the plenary session which was passed overwhelmingly.
The Bill was immediately committed to the committee of the whole and was adopted. The Bill is now ready for harmonization with the Senate before onward transmission to the President for assent.

If signed into Law by the President, the Commission will be charged with the responsibility of receiving and managing allocated Funds from the Federal Government for the region for the purpose assisting in the reconstruction, rehabilitation and also address the humanitarian challenges of communities which have been badly effected by violence conflicts and attacks. The commission will have the capacity to tackle the ecological problems and other related environmental or developmental challenges, while also having a huge employment potential for the people of the Geopolitical Zone.

The Lawmaker has again reiterated his commitment to provide people-oriented representation and facilitate laws that will have direct impact to the people, Constituency, State, Region and Nation at large.

He praised God for sparing his life and restoring his health to enable him speak more on National issues. He appreciated the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Deputy Speaker, Minority leadership, the entire leadership of the house and his colleagues for their prayers and unflinching support during the time of the accident. He applauded his Constituents and well meaning Nigerians for their spiritual and moral supports.
