Nigerian Youths have called on civil society and indeed all well meaning Nigerians to make frantic efforts to protect young people currently occupying elective political positions from being harassed by their political parties and leaders in their states.
Speaking on the #NotTooYoungToRun Law, on behalf of participants during a Thematic Breakaway session on Youth Inclusiveness in Political Policy and Political Participation at the ongoing National Youth Conference, Comrade Israel Ushi (D Custodian), Co-Convener #NotTooYoungToLead Initiative, a delegate from Delta State called the attention of the Civil Society representative at the conference to come to the rescue of young people currently holding elective political positions in the country, sighting the recent reported impeachment of Rt Hon Ayuba Abok, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, by 6 out of 24 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
While responding to the call, one of the panelists at the event, Godbless Tobore, the Founder Ready-To-Run, a civil society organization called on young people to rise up to the occasion and protect fellow youths by ensuring that more young people are elected into political offices in order to help protect themselves, stressing that the civil society alone can not do everything alone. He stressed that the only solution besides the advocacy efforts of civil society, is for young people to ensure that youths are voted and ensure that more young people participate in politics.
