A group by the name Arewa Youth Congress of Nigeria has recognized the philanthropic contributions of HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi, the Eyewei the 5th of Azuzzuama to Youth Development and National Unity.
Leading a delegation of representatives from Borno, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kano, Sokoto and other states, National President of the Youth Organization, Alhaji Rilwan Musa Daura, while presenting the award eulogized HRH Dr Selky for his commitment to peace and unity. He noted that the after searching for people of HRH Dr Selky’s standard, only HRH was found to be outstanding during the nomination process. Adding that after a painstaking screening process, the organization decided to recognize HRH Dr Selky with an award of excellency and a title ‘Hasken Matasan Arewa’ considering his patriotism, especially his conduct in public and private life which is worthy of emulation by everyone across the country.
Alhaji Rilwan Musa Daura used the opportunity to highlight some of the challenges currently ravaging Northern Nigeria which include but not limited to Bokoharam Insurgency, the Conflict between Farmers and Herdsmen (within many of the victims now in IDP camps), illicit drug abuse among many others. They appealed to HRH Dr Selky to help reach out to those in IDP camps with a view to support them. After HRH Dr Selky’s philanthropic contribution, the group appreciated him for contributing to support intervention projects across Northern Nigeria.
HRH Dr Selky in his acceptance speech appreciated the group for recognizing his little efforts towards national development. He promised to continue, while also calling on Nigerian Youths to support nonviolent efforts towards National Unity and Development.
HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi is a recipient of numerous awards and titles, which include Grand Commander Nigerian Youths conferred on him by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the title of Turakin Matasa by the Northern Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN). We was only recently crowned King of Azuzzuama in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, a decision which was widely celebrated by his subjects and indeed Nigerians all over.
