The Nigerian House of Representatives has finally declared the seat of the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency in Plateau State vacant during its plenary on Tuesday. The seat was declared vacant following the demise of its occupant, late Hon. Haruna Maitala in a ghastly motor accident around Keffi-Barde Road, on his way to Jos from Abuja on April 02, 2021.
According to sources at the green chambers of the National Assembly, all necessary arrangements have been perfected to notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday 10 November, 2021.
Following today’s decision, the Bye-Election is expected to be conducted within ninety (90) days, which is likely to hold in February 2022.
