High Court Upholds Hon Joshua Ubandoma Laven’s reinstatement, Strikes our Appeal by Barr Zulfa

A State High Court in Jos on Friday upheld the reinstatement of Hon. Joshua Ubandoma  Laven of the People Democratic Party (PDP) by dismissing an appeal filed by Barr. Zulfa Bitrus Rimven of the All Progressive Congress, APC, on the ground that the suit was lacking in merits.

Justice Ishaku Kunda while delivering judgment said that the appeal lacked the basic grounds because the judgment was more declaratory which seek to quash all the contending issues.

Barr. Zulfa Rimven, a former Commissioner at the State Ministry for Housing, and the candidate of the APC in Langtang North whad approached the high seeking for the interpretation of the judgment entered in favour of Hon Joshua Ubandoma Laven on the 2nd November 2021.

Hon Joshua Ubandoma Laven had approached the court seeking to restrain the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) from conducting elections in Langtang North LGA, on the grounds that his tenure of three (3) years had not elapse, haven only spent just two (2) years in Office. Elections however held in the LGA, along with others during the October 9th 2021 Local Government Elections. The Court reinstated him as Chairman on November 2nd 2021.
