Court nullifies powers of Plateau State Electoral Commission to charge and receive nomination fees and administrative charges

A High Court in Jos Presided over by Justice I. Kunda on Friday delivered judgment in the second PDP case against the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) on the Local Govt Council elections in Suit No. PL/J249cv/2021. 
Delivering Judgement, the Court agreed with the PDP Legal Team’s submission headed by Edward Pwajok SAN that PLASIEC did not have the powers under the law to charge and receive Nomination fees for forms and also do not have powers to collect Administrative charges from political parties and their candidates.

With this development, the guidelines of PLASIEC imposing nomination and administrative fees was nullified by the Court.
