CMD JUTH Prof Edmond Banwat Commissions New Amenity Complex, Pledges Completion of ongoing Projects by 1st Quarter of 2022


The Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) has commissioned a brand new 32-Room Amenity Complex. Chief Medical Director, JUTH, Prof Edmond Banwat while receiving keys to the new complex expressed joy that the project which started in 2018 finally came to completion despite the many challenges.
Prof Banwat informed all present at the commissioning that each time patients come to JUTH Permanent site since 2010, they always asked for amenity ward.  Seeing the need, the Hospital took the initiative to bridge the gap. He noted that the entire Amenity Complex from contructuion to current furnishing gulped just a little over Six Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N650,000,000).

Prof Banwat stressed that there was not consultant who supervised the construction of the Amenity Complex, noting that Staff of the Works Department, young people actually designed and supervised the project to completion. He pointed out that it was a deliberate action to improve the capacity of staff, and according to him, their capacities have been improved for greater responsibility. According to Prof Banwat, funds were prudently expended in the execution of the project.
Prof Banwat also highlighted other ongoing construction work for a new Psychiatry Ward Complex, Store Department, Renovation of Health Center Zamko which will all be completed by first quarter of 2022.

He also announce that a three billion naira (N3,000,000,000) radio therapy center will soon be initiated to bring relief to patients who travel as far as Sokoto, Ibadan, Lagos etc for Radio Therapy Services. He noted that patients come from as far as Lagos to access quality services in JUTH at a lower rate compared to Lagos.


The CMD used the opportunity to thank his Lordship, Bishop Benjamin Kwashi for honoring the invitation to dedicate the new Amenity Complex in prayers. He asked that all present joined to commit the structure in prayers so that all undertakings within the New Complex would save lives and provide succour to all who come to seek various kinds of health services.

While handing over the New Amenity Complex to the Management of JUTH, CEO Adex Press and Allied Services Limited Mr Andrew Ibu, the contractor who handled the project appreciated the CMD, Management and Staff of JUTH who played various roles in the successful completion of the project. He noted that despite the spike in the price of building materials, the company did not compromise on the quality and integrity of the structure, stressing that only time will vindicate the efforts they have put into the successful completion of the New Amenity Complex.

His Lordship. Bishop Benjamin Kwashi admonished medical practitioners to see their calling into the medical profession as all call to service with compassion, stressing that many have allowed their quest for money to overshadow their hypocratic oath which is anchored on saving lives. Bishop Kwashi called on Medical Doctors to always consider saving lives when ever they want to embark of industrial actions no matter their reason, while also cautioning the leadership against withholding the entitlements of medical practitioners.

Bishop Kwashi then invited all to stand as he dedicated the New Amenity Complex to God in prayers for the effective utilization of the structure to save lives and bring succour to all who come to seek various kinds of medial services. He prayed against the activities of wicked and evil spirits which frustrated efforts of medical doctors in treating patients. He also prayed that even if a patient comes to the facility with a seemingly impossible medical condition, solution will be found on entry into the facility. He was then joined by the CMD Prof Edward Banwat and top management staff to tour the new structure.
