Medical experts have insisted that the COVID-19 vaccines are effective despite few challenges which is common with any form of vaccine or medication. This was disclosed during a radio awareness program on the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines on KT 103.9 FM Jos. Mr Tobias Choji, the Chief Laboratory Scientist at the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) Vom who was a guest on the program disclosed it while explaining controversies surrounding the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines.
Mr Choji stressed that for the COVID-19 Vaccines, there are different companies that manufacture them, hence their separate administration. He noted that while the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Johnson and Johnson was just a single jab, the likes of Astra and Moderna required that a first and subsequent booster jabs are administered to ensure effectiveness.
While responding to questions from from listeners, Mr Choji pointed out that it was possible for persons who have taken the required dosage of the vaccine to still contract the virus if such a person has not fulfilled the required number of days (depending on the individual immunity) for the vaccine to build immunity in a person.
He informed listeners that such was one of the salient reason why fully vaccinated persons still contract the virus, hence he called on the general public to continue to adhere to COVID-19 protocol which include the wearing of face mask and the observance of physical/social distancing.
