The leadership of Shendam LGC has signed By- Law banning Open defecation in LGA. According to the documents made available to this medium, upon implementation, any member of the public caught defecating openly will be made to face imprisonment or fine or both. According to the document signed by Hon Alex Naantuam (Chairman of the Council) on behalf of the Executive, Barr Samuel Fomwul (Clerk) and and Hon Marcellinus Thomas (Leader) on behalf of the Legislative arm of the LGC, the law has mandated all offices, churches and mosques to provide sanitary convenience for their staff and members of the public. Motors parks and recreational centers are not left out of the law.
Shendam LGA becomes the first LGA to sign the By-Law after the draft was developed by PRUWASSA and shared to all LGAs over year ago, through the WASH Directors of each LGA to review and come up with the bylaw base on the peculiarities of each LGA.
