OPSH Urges Online Media Practitioners to Counter Fake News in Plateau State

Plateau Bloggers and Online Media practitioners in Plateau State have been described as critical stakeholders in promoting peace and urged to use their various mediums to send out Peace while countering Fake News and misinformation.

Maj General Ibrahim Salau Ali, The commandant Operation Safe Haven OPSH, who is also the GOC 3Div, stated this on Wednesday 23rd February, at the STF Headquarters in Jos when he received some members and executives of the Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association on a courtesy visit.

The commandant stated that Operation Safe Haven has maintained a cordial relationship with media actors on the Plateau, especially the bloggers, and as such was delighted that the group has continued to identify with the untiring efforts of the troops in ensuring peace and security on the Plateau.

He tasked online media practitioners to avoid the sensational reporting of events so as to curtail chaos in the society while further assuring that the Special TaskForce will continue to do more to promote peace and unity on the plateau.

Comr Friday Bako, Chairman Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association stated that the visit was to appreciate the Commandant and his men for their efforts in restoring peace in the state

He commended the the Commandant and troops for their professionalism and the laudable programs being carried out in the state to ensure peace and unity, like the recently held Peace Dialogue between Irigwe and Fulani Youths, The Inauguration of the 26man committee constituted for Peace Report Implementation amongst others which are geared towards the non-kinetic means.

The group went on to formally present an Award of Excellence for Special Impact to the Commandant Operation Safe Haven, Maj General Ibrahim Salau Ali, being an award that was presented to other 15 awardees at the recently held PLABOMA Dinner and Award Night at Elial Center Jos.
