1st Plateau Our Heritage Summit – Plateau people encouraged to get involved in the emergence of who leads the State

Plateau people have been enjoined to be involved in order to select who governs the state going forward. This charge was given by Honorable Alex Kwapnoe Yola (FIMC), the Chairman Plateau Our Heritage Revival Initiative during her first summit with the theme “Plateau State: Changing the Narratives – Our Stand“. He noted that such a leader should emerge as a result of his experience and exposure, stressing that Plateau people have learnt from the experiences of the past and can not afford to leave the leadership of the state to chance.

The event which held on Thursday 31st March 2022 at the Great links Continental Hotel in Jos the Plateau State Capital, saw in attendance individuals who have distinguished themselves in their various endeavors.

In his opening remark, the Convener of the group Honorable Ayuba Pam Dangwong noted that the group was in a process of building a new plateau where all will flourish, adding that the group will make a difference going forward.

Chairman of the occasion, Brig. Gen John Temlong (Rtd) in his address pointed out that diversity is a strength when properly managed. He added that it was very important for Plateau people to change themselves in order to change the narrative about the state. He called for a holistic approach in addressing the current challenges the state is faced with, particularly the security situation in the state, calling on elders in the state to ensure that they speak and act in such a manner that will promote peace in the state.

High points of the event featured four discussion sessions which with Prof Patricia Lar, Victor Kuchili, Dr Henry Longpoe and Hon Panshak Titus Yohanna as discussants on the topics “Plateau: A state in progress or intertia?”, ” Building Economic Gains for Plateau State “, ” Punishment of Crimes in Conflict Situations, a case study of Plateau State” and “Changing the Narrative for Sustainable Revenue Generation in Plateau State” respectively.

Participants both on site and online were given the opportunity to send in their questions and discussants did justice to them.
