The National Coordinator, Prayer Force Network, Amb John Pofi has said that it may take any incumbent President over 3 years of his annual salary to recover the cost of nomination form under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)which has announced One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000) as the cost of nomination form for those who want to contest the party’s Presidential primaries.
In a statement personally issued to journalists, Amb John Pofi accused President Muhammadu Buhari of not being honest when he allegedly said he was going to handover power in 2023 to Nigerian Youth, considering that the cost of nomination forms for APC State House of Assembly under his watch as President has been pegged at N2.5 Million while that of Governorship is pegged at N50 Million, asking if Nigerian Youths can afford such exorbitant prices.
He accused the APC of encouraging godfatherism, money politics and corruption among aspirants stressing that those who will emerge will seek to regain what they spent if they get to office.
Ambassador John Pofi called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to wield the big stick if at all it is independent to insist on the amount of money pegged for electioneering campaigns to remain sacrosanct. He further accused the APC of perpetuating 50 times the accusations they used as propaganda against Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, stressing that the current situation in the currently only portrays members of the APC as “…hypocrites…”
He lamented that the ruling party is “…supervising one of the most corrupt…inhuman administration in the history of mankind with bloodbath and hardship increasing at geometrical rates”, stressing that these accounts for the mass defection currently rocking the APC, with a lawmaker defecting from the APC in Katsina, the President’s home state. He also used the opportunity to salute the Former Minister for Youths & Sport to President Buhari, Barrister Solomon Dalung who according to him “… has seen the light and has been bothered by moral burden of falsehood and left the APC saying they didn’t fulfill any of their promises to Nigerians”.
