Automobile Business tycoon and philanthropist, Chief Wungak Kefas Ropshik(KAFIANO), has promised to work with the civil society, women groups, corporate organisations, professional bodies, digital development platforms, Agro allied groups, commerce and trade organisations, international development and donor organisations and the united nations bodies, etc to ensure that a new Plateau is born.
He made this known while declaring his intention to run for office of the Executive Governor of Plateau State ahead of the 2023 General Elections at the State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jos.
While stating the purpose of his declaration, Chief Wungak Kefas Ropshak pointed out that “In response to the tumultuous and well spread (geographically and demographically) call from my beloved brothers and sisters of Plateau for my humble self to serve as the executive governor plateau state, come 2023. I do officially state my resolution and declare thus;
This day, due to my trust and believe in my state and people’s support, I humbly stoop to honor their well thought out demand, to join the very robust array of contestants to vie for this seat and hope on the people’s voice will give us victory. A victory for the people and, for a new and productive Plateau.”
He stressed however, that he has “…carefully researched the prevailing state challenges and know they are requiring urgent and committed attention to handle them with the ‘bottom-top’ global development approach. And, I have come to the conclusion that, at this particular moment in the history of our beloved Plateau and nation, it will be a dangerous disservice to the state and the people, to allow themselves to be lured into giving their votes to some candidates who may not really have the requisite capacity to impact on the people again.”
According to Chief Kefas “I grieve for the prevailing moment of wide unemployment, lack of employability amongst our graduates, massive poverty and pains within families, mass security challenges, wide young person’s vulnerability to avoidable crime and vices due to idleness, total neglect for the innovative and creative young Plateau persons in entertainment, digital technology, health sector, etc. a widespread hopelessness amongst the people in the grass root and urban areas. Just to mention a few.”
According the him “The call for me to contest is mostly based on my record in surmounting corporate, social, societal and economic challenges as a private achiever and entrepreneur who is very conversant with job creation, care for the less privileged and vulnerable persons in the rural and urban areas of this nation and Plateau state in particular.”
Chief Wungak Kefas Ropshak itemized the following as his vision;
• THE NEW Plateau of mass jobs and wealth for the youth
• It is massive industrialization of the state.
• It is the export for external income for the state.
• It is quality education for viability and relevance in the 4th industrial era.
• It is peace and security amongst people of divide and hurt within the security issues prevalent on the Plateau.
• It is good salary for the productive and hardworking civil servants.
• Massive international investments in our local communities.
• It is beautification and sanitation of the rural and urban areas of the state.
• The creative industry will become global standards by harnessing the creators of music, theatre, comedy and the entire entertainment industry on the Plateau. Especially with a deliberate effort to promote and sustain various cultural endowments across the state through competition that will be supervised by local and international experts and institution.
He stated the following as part of his philanthropic efforts so far. In his own words,
“✓ I was a loyal and profound SERVANT at Benue State University Makurdi, Benue state and became outstanding in my duty and still an example to others there.
✓ I run a not-for-profit and non-governmental organisation known as Kefiano Global Foundation-KGF, which has impacted many children across the state in psychosocial, educational, health, accommodational and various care issues.
✓ I specially support 2000 widows annually on basic care needs
✓ I continually adopt orphaned and vulnerable children, due to crisis on the Plateau in my orphanage and home.
✓ So far, I have conducted free and qualitative medical outreach programs which include treatments for over 59 thousand people across the state and comprehensive surgery for three thousand nine hundred (3900) persons across the state. This free medical treatments were carried out by 32 doctors/specialists from Plateau and in diaspora.
✓ I personally facilitated the release of 127 prisoners from the Jos correctional facilities.
✓ I specially support Internally Displaced Persons -IDPs with relief materials and other care stuffs.
✓ I am industrially conscious and ready to cut down all wastes of the state’s resources in unproductive ventures and obligations.
✓ I am a graduate in mass communication and have a wide network of economic, social and global relationships to bring Plateau to the world stage for the best reasons.
✓ Those who are close to me, would agree with me that I am highly detribalized and non-bias in carrying out all my endeavors.
✓ I specially state here, that I respect our traditional institutions and values.
✓ I am an employer of labor and currently I have over one hundred workers under my payroll and still growing.”.
In conclusion, he stated thus “As I indicate my interest to contest today, I want to request for the party to rally round my candidacy to put the party on the side of progress and the state on the winning side during my tenure.”
