Reports reaching this medium is suggesting that 19 frontline aspirants under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are set to dump the party should the governor and his inner circle remain hell bent on arm-twisting their way into ensuring that their preferred candidate emerges.
Our source who pleaded anonymity informed this medium that the over 20 aspirants seeking the Guber ticket of the APC on Monday,25th April 2021 were invited for a meeting, at the instance of the Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt. Hon Barr. Simon Bako Lalong and the State chairman of the APC Hon. Rufus Bature.
According to our source, the meeting reportedly an enlarged stakeholders meeting of the APC, where the conveners allegedly pleaded with the aspirants to be civil in their conduct and to speak to each other and come up with a consensus if possible.
Following this position, our source alleged, the Chairman of the APC Hon. Rufus Bature with members of his working committee invited the governorship aspirants for a parley at the party office where he appealed to the aspirants to see the possibility of having a consensus and at least, getting the number reduced.
Our source further revealed that the chairman in his capacity appointed Chief Dr. Amos Gizo to serve as the chairman of the aspirants. Another source who was privy to the details told our medium that the aspirants all met in the office of Chief Amos Gizo and thereafter had an intensive deliberation that lasted hours. Following the meeting our sources revealed that the aspirants expressed their readiness to accept any one of them who emerges as the consensus candidate.
They further agreed that they will not accept any form of imposition from any quarters, stressing that they will reject outright any concocted lists of delegates that did not emerge following by the stipulated guidelines.
They also agreed to marry the blueprints of all aspirants and reiterated their readiness to work for the success of the party.
However, our sources have said that there are strong rumours of an endorsement of Dr. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwada by the Governor, his wife, brother, father in-law and the accountant general. Our sources also noted that if the rumours materialize, 19 of the 20 aspirants have resolved to dump APC for another party with their teaming supporters in the state for a yet to identified political party.
Our sources also revealed that the aspirants have all signed and endorsed the decision.
The governorship aspirants all reportedly endorsed the leadership of Chief Amos Gizo and equally passed a vote of confidence on his style of leadership. Our sources also revealed that, Chief Amos Gizo told his colleagues that he can sacrifice his ambition to make sure that justice prevail for all.
As at the time of filing this report, the phone number of the State Chairman of the APC Hon Rufus Bature was unreachable when tried to find out his thoughts about this development.
