The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State has called for genuine reconciliation and forgiveness among stakeholders and members of the party ahead of the 2023 general election. This was made known by the chairman of the party, Hon Chris Hassan during the ‘PDP Family Meeting’ convened on Monday 13th June 2022, at Eliel Event Center Jos, the Plateau State Capital.
According to Hon Hassan, the party decided in its wisdom to convene the meeting in order to pacify members of the party following the conclusion of the party’s primaries in the state. He noted that PDP Plateau State had the highest number of aspirants in Nigeria, which is a conformation of the patriotism and love Plateau people have for the PDP.
Hon Chris Hassan pleaded for forgiveness on behalf of the party over the events of the last four years, calling for genuine reconciliation among stakeholders and members of the party. He stressed that aspirants for House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and Governorship who did not make it are still very relevant to the party’s victory in the coming 2023 General Elections.
He noted that the processes that orchestrated the emergence of candidates of the PDP was more transparent than that of other political parties, stressing that the peace and decorum the followed the Primaries came as a surprise to people who thought PDP would not finish her primaries in peace. He called for all to bring up issues that will add value to the party ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

Hon his part, the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State Barrister Caleb Mutfwang hailed the party for coming up with such a wonderful and powerful initiative.
He restated his commitment to lead the party, as a united family into the 2023 General Elections. He recognized and commended the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by Guber Aspirants who contested with him, stressing that it was a demonstration of patriotism to the party and the state. He added that though he had visited twelve (12) out of the 18 Guber aspirants who contested with him, he was still going to ensure that he visits the others in order to solidify grounds ahead of the 2023 elections to ensure that the PDP emerges victorious with a united front.
He cautioned members of the party against spreading rumours going into the 2023 General Elections. He noted that he has visited Senator JT Useini among many stakeholders to ensure that the unity of the party is consolidated. He said that his doors remain open to all members of the party. He appreciated all those who contested for various offices across the state. He appealed to them to sheet their swords and work together with those to emerged in order to consolidate on the efforts made to guarantee victory ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

While making her presentation, Pastor Margarete Inusa called on all stakeholders of the party to unite and work towards the victory of the party in 2023. She lamented that the reason why the party didn’t emerge victorious in 2019 was because those who lost out during the primaries didn’t support the candidates that emerged. According to her she was almost discouraged in 2019 when she discovered that the deep division in the party, but stay with the party with the hope that things will get better. She urged Aspirants who lost at the Primaries to recognize that Power comes from God, encouraging them that when their turn comes they will surely get it.

Aspirants who contested for various offices and lost during the primaries of the party were recognized during the event. Governorship aspirants present at the event include Dr Timothy Golu, Chief Kefas Ropshik (Kefiano), Amb Bagidu Hirse, Chief Satu Jawum Jatau, Hon Dauda Gotring, Gen John Sura (Rtd) among others. Apologies were received for others who could not make it. Most of them who had the opportunity to speak publicly declared their total support for the party across board, urging for those who lost the party’s primaries in other offices to unite and support the party in the interest of the party.
