The Convention Planning Committee of the 2022 National Convention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has clear Comrade Umar Farouk Lawal (Fakki) and fourteen (14) other aspirants to run for the office of the National President of the Association.
The committee had introduced a new screening mechanism to ensure that only duly registered students of Nigeria’s Tertiary Institutions run for office in the convention following a constitutional review who made it difficult for Non Students to run for office as was obtained in the past.
Reacting to his clearance, Comrade Umar Farouk Lawal (Fakki) whose name appeared No. 11 on the list of cleared contestants expressed confidence in the process which saw to his screening and clearance to run for President. He noted that after due consultations and permutations fr various leaders, stakeholders and other structures within the association, he presents himself as a potent option to pilot the affairs of NANS.
Fakki stressed in his own words that “…in the Spirit of one solidarity, therefore I solicit and appeal with our various Senators across the country to make history and vote in governance that will be for the benefit of all Nigerians Students”.
