Over 100,000 beneficiaries currently registered under State Health Insurance Scheme ~ PLASCHEMA

The Plateau State Contributory Health Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has said that the agency has so far registered and enrolled over One Hundred Thousand (100,000) persons who are currently benefiting from the State Health Insurance Scheme. This was disclosed during an interface organized by PLASCHEMA, with media practitioners, civil society organizations and other critical stakeholders. The event with the theme “Decentralising Information for Inclusive Participation in Health Insurance” had in attendance the Director General, PLASCHEMA Dr Jemchang Fabong, all members of the PLASCHEMA Management team and other staff of the agency.


According to the Director Operations of PLASCHEMA, Dr Kwande Dawal, the over 100, 000 register person captured were drawn from the beneficiaries from the Plateau State Civil Service and their dependants, beneficiaries from the 17 Local Governments Areas, Organized Private Sector and their dependants, as well as the informal sector.

While welcoming participants at the beginning of the event, Director General, PLASCHEMA Dr Jemchang Fabong described media practitioners as an integral part of the success stories that PLASCHEMA has recorded and will continue to record. He urged them to come up with innovative ways through which those at the grassroot can be enlightened in order to take advantage of the State Health Insurance Scheme rather than continue with the usual out-of-pocket expenses.

The gathering was then separated into clusters to brainstorm and come up with suggestions on how best the message of ensuring universal health coverage while leaving no one behind gets to the grassroot. Various groups took turn at the end to present their suggestions and areas of possible partnership with PLASCHEMA in order to achieve set goal.
