Kanke LGA sets to produce first female legislator

Youths and women in Kanke have reportedly vowed to deliver Hon. Jiritmwa Goyit, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for Kanke state constituency in the March 18, 2023 Election. This was disclosed during the flag-off of campaigns and the inauguration of her campaign Council on Friday 10th February, 2023 in Amper. The event witnessed large turnout of supporters of the PDP candidate from all the four Districts that make up the constituency and beyond.


While inaugurating the Campaign Council, Hon. Goyit called on the members to maintain peace and decorum while carrying out its activities by shunning violence and any action that could breach the peace. She further stressed the importance of voting PDP candidates in all the elections.

The Director-General of the Campaign Council, Hon. Silas Yitman in his acceptance speech promised to do all within his strength to ensure victory. He however noted with sense of pride that marketing Hon. Goyit wasn’t going to be an uphill task as the candidate has through her character traits earned a reputation for herself and occupied a place in the hearts of the constituents.


In her goodwill message, Hon. Salome Tanimu, the PDP candidate for House of Assembly Pankshin South state constituency called on the women folk to utilize the opportunity given to women by the party to ensure they are delivered

All the women who spoke to this medium after the occasion on the candidature of Hon. Goyit described her as the most qualified among all the candidates of other political parties jostling for the seat. Panmwa Luka, an educationist said, “This time, we are searching for a Legislator to represent us in the House of Assembly and the PDP presented us with the best candidate for the job”.

Victoria Gonet, a social worker also described Goyit as the most qualified in terms of competence, capacity and courage. “She ticks all the boxes for competence, courage, character and excellence. We women owe it a duty to ourselves and the constituency to go from house to house, shelter to shelter and place to place to ensure that
she wins convincingly”.



Johnson Gotep, a youth activist noted that all politics is local. He therefore advised members of the council to take the political campaign to the grassroots and ensure victory for not just the PDP candidate for Kanke state constituency but for all the party candidates at all levels of elections from presidential down to state assembly elections

“Of course, this election is very important to us in Kanke. More so that we a credible candidate for the House of Assembly in Mrs. Jiritmwa Goyit. We must therefore, do everything possible to ensure her victory and the victory of all the candidates of our party for other seats. The victory must be total and comprehensive”.

Gotip further stated that the election of Goyit was so important to the people of Kanke and urged the campaign Council not to rest on its oars and make sure that the candidate is delivered.

Some of the PDP stakeholders who graced the occasion and gave their goodwill messages are Nde David Shikfu Parradang, former Controller-General of Immigration Service and critical stakeholder of the PDP, Hon. Amos Gombi who represented Kanke constituency in Plateau State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011, Hon. Joseph Gonsum, former Chairman, Kanke Local Government Council, Hon. Dakom Felix, Mrs. Jerusa Gotau and many others.
