Film Maker Dimbo Atiya Announces Two Winners for the Nde Ezekiel Gomos Short Film Fund

Leading film Maker and producer of popular Africa Magic TV Series ‘Halita’ and ‘The Rishantes’ Mr Dimbo Atiya has announced two winners of the ‘Nde Ezekiel Gomos Short Film Fund’ competition. The announcement was made during a media interaction and official presentation of cheques to the winners held at Jos Business School, Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

Each of the two winners was presented with a check of N500,000 which will go into funding their dream production which will be monitored and funds released at various stages. The idea was borne out of the desire to appreciate talents in the creative industry and give opportunity to young people to actualize their dream in the film making industry.

Dimbo said he was inspired by a N60, 000 seed capital he was given by Mr Ezekiel Gomos two decades ago to start up a small Suya Business had submitted a proposal for. Though the business did not take off, he was deeply touched by the fact that the seed capital was given to him despite the fact that Nde Ezekiel Gomos did not know him in person.

He stressed that the idea was materialized through the competition in order to honor Nde Ezekiel Gomos and out of the entries for competition, the ideas of the two winners cought the attention of the organizers and hence were selected based on merit.

The winners are expected to go through mentorship and training which will end in a product. The prize money will be injected into the project of the winners and releases will be made at various stages of completion, gradually until they get the product ready.

While reacting to the this development, Nde Ezekiel Gomos expressed excitement and humility for the honor by Dimbo Atiya, stressing that this type of honor will produce more fruits and shades for others to benefit from. He described his philanthropy as an investment in the potentials seen in others that is expected to produce self reliance.

He said that there are thousands who have been given such interventions but Dimbo Atiya, like the Biblical one out of the ten leppers healed by the Lord Jesus has returned to express gratitude for what was done for him.

He added that what Dimbo has done is an investment in others which will creat more jobs in the nearest futures. He called on young people to take advantage of opportunities, and especially take steps to become self reliant.

Nde Ezekiel Gomos had earlier announced that he and his family had in recognition of what Dimbo Atiya has done, three other slots for mentorship and internship will be announced to allow more people to take advantage of learning process to becoming self reliant film makers.

On their own part, the very excited two winners Rukaya Sadiq and Twansen Dana’an both expressed gratitude to Mr Dimbo Atiya for finding them worthy and promised to do their best. They used the opportunity to call on young people to always believe in themselves and take advantage of opportunities when they are available, without fear and do their best.
