Margif Denies collapsing structure to support Dakum

Ambassador Yohana Margif, the embattled chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) in Plateau State has distanced himself from Mr Kichime Gotau and Solomon Ndam who recently declared support for the the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate Dr Patrick Dakum following a press conference organized by the duo on Thursday 23rd February 2023.

In a statement issued by Margif and made available to Journalists in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, he disowned their position and described the whole idea which alleged that he collapsed his campaign structure to support Dr Patrick Dakum as a figment of the imagination of mischief makers who are desperate for power.

Margif lambasted the duo, stating that their action is “…baseless fraudulent and a total betrayal of trust“. He further berated the duo for “…selfishly organizing kangaroo press conference that I have withdrawn and collapsed my structure to support Dr Patrick Dakum candidacy”

Margif used the opportunity to applaud the citizens of Plateau State for their massive support which they showed by Voting for the Labour Party in the first round of the 2023 General elections in Nigeria.

According to him “I believe you voted your conscience devoid of religious, ethnic or regional sentiments.” He further posited that that “…for the avoidance of doubt, the press statement of Mr Gotau is entirely false and does not represent my stance on the attempts of Dr Patrick Dakum to confiscate my governorship ticket of Labour party in Plateau State.”

He noted that he diligently pursued the path of the rule of law to safeguard his Labour party governorship ticket against the illegal substitution, stressing that the situation is totally against the provisions of the 2022 electoral act”.

Margif appealed for calm amongst his teeming supporters in Plateau state, adding that his legal case is before the supreme court of Nigeria in search of Justice in line with democratic tenets.
