The Peter Obi Campaign Group, popularly known as the ‘Obideints’ in Plateau State have endorsed gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Barrister Caleb Mutfwang as their preferred gubernatorial candidate ahead of the Saturday 18th March 2023 Governorship and State Assembly Elections.
This according to them was informed by the fact that they had watched and listened keenly to all the major contenders for the Governorship of Plateau State and have found found in Barr. Caleb Mutfwang a Leader who is competent, a unifier, God-fearing with track records in public service, knowledgeable about the problems of Plateau State and one who is ready to hit the ground running on day one and so our resolve to throw our weights overwhelmingly behind him to vote for him massively as the next Governor of Plateau State.
This was disclosed in during a Press Conference held on Thursday 16th March 2023 at the Conference Hall, Federal Secretariat, Jos and addressed by the Head of Operations, National Directorate of Intervention for Peter Obi, Ambassador Bitrus Yerima.
According to the group, their decision to endorse Barrister Caleb Mutfwang and Ngo Josephine Piyo was to ensure that they, along with Plateau people get it right on the 18th of March, 2023 at the gubernatorial elections to rescue Plateau State from what they described as “…Maladministration, Poverty, Insecurity, Injustice, Misplacement of Priorities, listening to the enemies of the state and doing their bids, monumental failure and crass cluelessness in governance which Plateau people have had to grapple with in the almost past 8 years in the hands of the APC”.
The Obedients stressed that”…Plateau State cannot afford to again reinforce hardship and failure for another 8 years and so it is expedient on us to come out and state our position clearly and let our members know who to vote as a Plateau Project next Saturday.”
They noted importantly that “Thankfully to our Principal His Excellency Peter Obi who understand he was a movement anchored on competence and credibility and so has given us the go ahead to vote for credibility and competence irrespective of party come 18th March, 2023.”.
Stressing further that “It is therefore, in the light of this development that we want to unequivocally Endorse His Excellency Barr. Caleb Mutfwang the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Governor of Plateau State come 18th March, 2023.”.
They used the opportunity to call on INEC to “…adhere to the electoral guidelines as Nigerians are watching of truly they are independent. We also wish to plead to the security agents to be neutral and do their job with diligence in order not to subvert the will of the people through whatever means.”
According to them “The “Obidient Mantra” is a movement whose members believe in the candidature of His Excellency Peter Obi to salvage Nigeria from sinking finally to a state of collapse to make our Country work again and become a Productive nation taking it’s rightful place as the giant of Africa and our Members cut across all spheres of life some of whom have never join any political party in the past.”.
They called on their members across the 17 LGAs of Plateau State not to be discouraged by the result of the February 25th Presidential elections but come out in their numbers and vote for the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP Barrister Caleb Mutfwang on Saturday 18th March 2023.
