The Plateau State Transition Implementation Committee, has inaugurated various sub-committees to work with the main committee to ensure a smooth transition and handing over from the current to the incoming administration in the state.
The Co-chairman of the Committee and Secretary to Government of Plateau State, Prof. Danladi Atu, who inaugurated the sub-committees members reminded them that the main committee has resolved to work in unison, and based on the principles of inclusivity and transparency.
He said, “during our inaugural sitting, we agreed to work on three things. We agreed to work in unity, and that Plateau is bigger than all of us, therefore we expect all the sub-committees to work in unison.
“We agreed also to work based on the principle of inclusivity. I expect all Chairmen and Secretaries of the sub-committees to carry all members along; and we agreed also that whatever is given to the committee to carry out the responsibility assigned to them should be used judiciously.”
He admonished members to see the responsibility bestowed on them as service to humanity and the greater good of Plateau State.
Co-Chairman of the committee, Prof. Ganyir Lombin, described the sub-committee members as privileged citizens of Plateau who are selected to carry out the enormous task of a smooth transition.
He expressed hope that the sub-committee members who are made up of high profile individuals that have served the state in different capacities, will bring to bear their wealth of experience to ensure the exercise is successful.
“Ladies and gentlemen, government comes, government goes, the state remains the same; persons come persons go, the state remains. My plea to you is that you should work to ensure this transition is smooth, seemly, honourable, and with the fear of God.”
He admonished the committee members to know that the take-off of the new government and the smooth exit of the current administration depend solely on the commitment and unity of the committee.
The sub-committees inaugurated include Publicity/Programmes; Protocol/Accommodation; Works/Venue/Transportation; contact and Mobilization; Entertainment/Welfare; Security; Swearing-in/Oath taking; Medical and Handing-over notes/Secreteriat.
