Folasade Ojo Tinubu (aka Iyaloja) daughter of the President-Elect Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has on behalf of her father and hundred of beneficiaries thanked the Executive Director Beautiful Gate Handicapped Peoples Center Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan, who is also Director PWD Mobilization Directorate Tinubu Shetima Campaign Organisation for coming to the aide of supporters of her father and other persons living with disability.
According to her Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan is not a person with disability but one who is able because he has surprised her and indeed everyone by supplying hundreds of Wheelchairs to beneficiaries for free, and has given out thousands more for free over the years; a gesture she said is rare even among person who are able.
She made this known on Thursday 11th May 2023, while serving as Special Guest at the day 46 of the celebration event organized to celebrate the electoral victory of the President-Elect which has been holding at the Unity Fountain, Miatama, Abuja.
The event which is reported to be sponsored by the Secretary of the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Organization Hon James Faleke, which began to hold immediately after the declaration of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu by INEC as the winner of the 2023 Presidential Elections.
In the spirit of the celebrations, the Executive Director of Beautiful Gate Handicapped Peoples Center who is part of the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Organization decided to distribute hundreds of Wheelchairs, Walkers, Walking Frames, Crouches and other walking aides to persons living with disability.
This according to the Executive Director, Beautiful Gate Handicapped Peoples Center Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan, is to ensure that persons living with disabilities are not left behind in the celebration and are also carried along and given a sense of belonging in the incoming administration.
In his speech he noted that the polio eradication program over the years only focused on halt the spread and did nothing to rehabilitate victims, adding that the distribution according to him was to also bring attention to the challenges being faced by persons living with disabilities across Nigeria, while expressing optimism that the Tinubu-Shettima Presidency will bring alot of attention and interventions which persons living with disability will benefit from, given that the current Buhari led administration gave the greatest attention ever to persons living with disability by signing into the law the Disability Rights Act, and establishing the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCWD).
He charged beneficiaries to put the tricycles to good use in order to pursue their ambitions and become self-reliant, stressing that disability is not the kiss of death but a challenge that can be surmounted. Other dignitaries present at the event include Hon Mohammed Abba Isa, North East PWDS Zonal Leader of the APC, Senator-Elect Plateau Central, Diket Plang among many others.
