As part of the mandate of providing equitable, timely and affordable quality healthcare service to Plateau residents towards achieving universal healthcare coverage, the Plateau State Contributory Health Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has said that it is concluding plans to launch cancer screening for 100,000 women (who form part of the vulnerable, less privileged and children category covered by the Equity Health Plan). This according to the agency is to ensure that cancer related risks are reduced among women through early detection.

This was disclosed by the Director General of the agency, Dr Jemchang Fabong during a live Stewardship Town Hall Meeting aired live in collaboration with the Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTVC).
Dr Fabong disclosed that with no prior experience or data, PLASCHEMA has been able to enrol thousands of residents who now benefit from the agency’s Equity, Formal and Informal Health Plans.
Dr Fabong gave a synopsis of how the agency started from scratch till date, it’s performance and successes recorded so far, including the funds recieved and how such has so far been extended.

Some beneficiaries who were present at the event, expressed appreciation to Governor Simon Bako Lalong for assenting to the PLASCHEMA Act and for providing the enabling environment for affordable, equitable and quality health services to reach them in their locality.
The event was attended by Management Staff of PRTV, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association of, Beneficiaries, HMOs and HFCs, and other critical stakeholders.
