Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Traditional Council Hosts HRH Dr. Selky Kile Toroughedi (EYEWEI V) Amayanaowei of Azuzuama Community

His Royal Highness Alh. (Dr) Adamu Baba Yunusa, CON, the Ona of Abaji and Chairman FCT Council of Chiefs has hosted HRH Dr. Selky Kile Toroughedi (Eyewei V) Amayanaowei of Azuzuama Kingdom.

This took place when HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi paid a courtesy call on the FCT Traditional Council of Chiefs on Thursday 8th June 2023, which according to him was aimed at achieving inter-traditional rulers cooperation for peace, security and stability within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its adjoining communities in order for cultural and social development to thrive.

During the visit, His Royal Highness the Ona of Abaji who holds His Royal Highness Dr. Selky in high esteem said that his visit was a welcome development which according to the him strengthens relations between the Northern and Southern parts of Nigeria because peace and unity are the political and social tools to drive collective development in Nigeria and it starts when we see ourselves as one.

He reiterated that it was necessary for traditional rulers just like politicians to cooperate as a way forward for national development and should not discriminate against one another on any basis of either religion or tribe.

His Royal Highness Dr. Selky in his remark said that it was imperative to relate with the Traditional Authority in the FCT having resided in the nation’s capital for over fifteen (15) years, and also being himself a Trafitional Ruler, it was necessary to show respect and the need to relate with persons of same traditional nomenclature within the FCT and indeed across Nigeria in order to crossbreed feasible ideas to drive human capacity development through well meaning social programs and comparative political and social stability, and sustain the security of lives and properties.

He added that this should be the model for Nigerian Traditional Rulers across board so that the spate of division and tensions in the country will be reduced and pave way for greater understanding of problems of the various ethnic nationalities that makes up Nigeria and how to solve them through cultural and traditional cooperation.

HRH Dr. Selky also joined Ona of Abaji in addressing the press to state that the Federal Government should try to engage youths in the FCT and the nation at large in meaningful ventures so that they will be productive and contribute to society and that, the youths are the strength of the country which will create a peaceful society.

The Traditional rulers further stressed that, the Federal Government should strengthen the mechanism to enforce mineral rights in the Niger Delta Oil and Gas Producing Communities under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) of which the 3% Host Communities Funds should be well managed and make sure it reaches the communities development, while same profits should accrue to communities that play host to solid mineral resources across the country.
