Youths to make up the remaining members of the Transition Committee for the 17 LGAs, Suspended Civil Servants to resume work after investigation – Says Gov Mutfwang

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has said that as part the commitment of his administration to carry women and youths along, the remaining members that will constitute the Management Committees of the 17 LGAs that were recently sworn-in must be persons below 40 years of age.

This according to the Governor will make a statement on their resolve to involve women and youths in governance in the State under his administration, and mentor them for greater responsibility and also downs suspicions about the role of youths in the recent Management Committee leadershi. Governor Mutfwang made this known while answering questions during a Live Town Hall Meeting organized by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State, Gyang Bere in conjunction with the Ag. General Manager, Plateau Radio, Television Corporation (PRTVC), Mr Yakubu Taddy.

The live event which held at the Studio of PRTVC in Rayfield had the theme “Unpacking the Time is Now Vision”. It had in attendance the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, his Deputy Mrs Josephine Piyo, outgoing Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Nuhu Ayuba Abok, Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Arch Samuel Nanchang Jatau, Head of Civil Service Mrs Rauta Dakok, Attorney General/Commissioner of Justice Philemon Audu Daffi, Chief of Staff, Mr Jerry Satmak, State EXCO of the PDP led by the State Chairman Hon Chris Hassan, recently appointed Management Committee Chairmen of the 17 LGAs, the Press, etc.

Governor Mutfwang also used the opportunity to dispell rumours that the suspension of the recent recruitment in the civil service by the immediate past administration was indeed termination. Governor Mutfwang said that the suspension was done in an attempt to investigate the way and manner some persons were employed into the civil service inline with public service rule and laid down procedure. The Governor said information available to him shows that the process was done irresponsibly, stressing that there was no way a person will be issued employment letters 14 Days to the end of the last administration, but the employment backdated to October 2022.

He added that it became necessary because his administration inherited an accumulated wage bill of about 11 Billion Naira. He said that according to the record, out of the February wage bill of over 2.8 Billion Naira, only 900 Million was paid while the remaining was left unattended to by the last administration. He added that the with part of February, whole of the unpaid March, April and May Salaries respectively, the inherited wage bill amounted to 11 Billion Naira, and modalities were being put in place to ensure that by the end of June, part of the salaries owed will be paid, to persuade workers to returned to work.

He stressed that as soon as investigations were completed, those who will be found to have been employed through legitimate means will be allowed to return to work. He urged the public not to pay attention to enemies of Plateau who are peddling Fakenews that he had sacked those recently employed, stressing that as soon as the process is concluded, they will be returned.
